These steel cords are kink-free for a smooth knitting experience.
Each package contains one cord, one tightening key and two end caps. Available in multiple sizes to create indicated lengths when using the short or standard length tips.
Note: these Mini steel cords are for use with the 2mm - 3mm Flight Needle tips. Standard steel cords are available for tip sizes 3.25mm and higher.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORD LENGTH:
*The primary difference between LYKKE 5" and 3.5" cords lies in the total length they create when combined with the respective needle tip lengths. While all Lykke cables (both 3.5" and 5") are compatible with all Lykke interchangeable needle tips, the labeled length of the cord specifically refers to the finished circular needle length (tip-to-tip).
- 3.5" (Short) Tips: When using 3.5" tips, the cords are designed to produce shorter total circular lengths (e.g., 16", 20", 24"). These are best for small circumference knitting like hats, sleeves, and socks.
- 5" (Standard) Tips: When using 5" tips, the same or similar cords produce longer total circular lengths (e.g., 24", 32", 40"). These are standard for sweaters, blankets, and large projects.
- The Math: If you use a 3.5" tip on a "24-inch" cord, the total length will be shorter than if you used a 5" tip on that same cord.
- 3.5" Cords: These are typically used to create smaller, more flexible, and more manageable loops for small-circumference projects.
- 5" Cords: These are generally more comfortable for larger projects, as they provide more room for stitches to rest.
- Interchangeable: Both 3.5" and 5" tips can be used on both 3.5" and 5" cords.
- Swivel: Most modern Lykke cords feature a swivel join to prevent kinking, which is particularly helpful on the shorter (3.5") cords, allowing the cable to turn 360 degrees.
- Note on Short Cords: If you try to use 5" tips on the shortest (16" or 40cm) cords, they are very difficult to use because the tips themselves take up most of the space
